Prayers to all Affected by Fort Hood Shooting

Prayers of comfort, condolences and healing go out to all affected by the Fort Hood shooting today.  This horrific tragedy has, in just a moment, changed the lives of so many.  Please join dare2create in sending peace, love and support to those affected as well their family,  loved ones and friends.  There really are no words at time like this… just an outpouring of love and compassion for those experiencing the loss of those who were near and dear to them.  We also extend prayers of healing to those victims who were injured and pray for their full recovery.

Prayers for Indonesia and Samoa

The 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, which originated in the sea off Sumatra Island has devastated the city of Padang, Indonesia. It is now estimated that thousands have died as a result of this natural disaster. While we may come from many faith, and spiritual paths, let us join together in sending prayers of healing, comfort and assistance to those who have been affected.  Let us also send prayers of support for all the rescue workers, doctors, hospitals, agencies and organizations who are assisting with rescue efforts. 

Often when something happens so far away from where we live we see images on the news and feel a connection with our "brothers and sisters" of planet earth. We experience deep empathy for those we have not met, recognizing that we are from the same global family.  We may even feel frustrated that there seems to be nothing tangible we can do to help. Yes, we can donate money to relief agencies and that can be of great benefit. And also we can stop, whenever we think of what is going on in that area of the world, and send that entire area and the people affected love and healing. Even in times of crisis we can dare2create the type of world we desire to live in by recognizing that we are all inextricably linked. 

We at dare2create offer this prayer to our brothers and sisters of planet earth who have been affected by the earthquake in Indonesia and the tsunami in Samoa. Please feel free to add  your own prayers and thoughts in the comment section.

Infinite Divine Spirit, God, Universal Presence, Love which is life, we recognize and acknowledge that you are present in us.  We accept for all those affected by the earthquake in Padang and other areas of Indonesia and those also affected by the tsunami in Samoa,  comfort.  We accept for those who have lost beloved ones that they are wrapped in a gentle and comforting embrace of that which brings them ease at this time.  We accept for those who are trapped that they are quickly and easily found and rescued.  We accept for those who are assisting with rescue operations of any sort that they are upheld and sustained by that which brings them support.  We are so grateful that this prayer is answered now.  Thank you God, thank you Spirit.  We now let this go and accept that this is done. And so it is. Amen.

Peace in Different Languages – World Peace Day — Motivational Moment

Did you know that September 21st is International Peace Day, also sometimes referred to as World Peace Day?  

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly for  "commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace within and among all nations and people," and to coincide with its opening session every September. In 2001 the General Assembly voted unanimously that September 21st be observed each year as a day of non-violence and cease-fire. 

Each year on this day groups and organizations around the world participate in events dedicated to peace. A peace bell is rung at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.  This bell is cast from coins donated by children from all around the world and was a gift from Japan. There is an inscription on the side of the bell which states: "Long live absolute world peace."

This year Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments and citizens to focus on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. For 100 days prior to September 21st the UN has been raising awareness about the dangers and costs of nuclear weapons with a campaign entitled:  "We Must Disarm". 

UN Messenger of Peace, actor Michael Douglas, who has rallied for disarmament for the United Nations since 1998, and actor Rainn Wilson, featured in the TV series The Office and formerly Six Feet Under have joined Secretary General in promoting this cause.  You can sign a petition for this at: http://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/2009/
